WCDP Awards Dinner Keynote Speaker, Jaime Harrison

A first-generation college graduate with a BA from Yale University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, Jaime previously worked as counsel and Director of Floor Operations for former House Majority Whip James Clyburn.

Hailing from Orangeburg, S.C., Jaime was raised by his grandparents, and began working in politics in Orangeburg in 1992. He later would go on to become the youngest person and first African American to serve as executive director of the House Democratic Caucus for his state. Jaime is the South Carolina Democratic Party’s first African-American Chair, and currently works on transportation and infrastructure issues for the D.C.-based lobbying firm The Podesta Group.

He has been recognized as one of The Hill’s “35 Steller Staffers Under 35,” as well as one of the National Bar Association and IMPACT’s “Top 40 lawyers under 40.” Before entering politics, Jaime worked in education serving as chief operating officer and director of program development for the College Summit, a national nonprofit organization that assists low-income students enroll in college.


Jaime is currently the Associate Chair and Senior Counselor to the DNC.
